Dollar General steals

Dollar General has the T.G.I. Friday’s snacks regularly priced at just $1. Use the new $1/2 coupon from Coupons.com to get each bag for just $0.50!  Thanks MoneySavingMadness for the find.  That is a pretty good deal, not as good as when I could get three for free at Rite Aid a few weeks ago, but hey we can't always score free can we?  Since you will be there already you might as well know all the match ups at Hip2Save there are bunch of freebies this week.

Some of the freebies:

Shopping today

I went to WAG's this morning and scored 2 free body washes (well really 4 because we did the transaction twice) and cheap Spam.  I hate to admit we like that stuff. but on a Saturday it makes for a super easy, and very salty, sandwich.   So with a Hormel coupon that I can't figure out where I got because I only had one which is very odd, it was $1.50 off three and the Spam is $1.99 each after coupon they were $1.49.  That is a decent deal and ended up being kinda my filler item on one transaction so I was able to use lots of RR's.  Glad to use some RR's because lately I have really accumulated them!!  I also use my papers as a filler item on Sundays so this was a good weekend to get ahead on my RR's.  I really was starting worry that I had so many of them that I was going to have to get items that were not a good deal just to use them up.  How I got there I don't know.  I track my spending closely and my OOP has not increased so dunno.  Maybe it was from a couple weeks ago when I scored so many money makers, but none the less it was nice to get those RR's under control.

We also went to Walmart today.  We were in Mississippi for the afternoon and I figured while we were down there we might as well hit up ol wallie world and take advantage of the almost 2% difference in sales tax..now, for those of you who don't know me...this is my LEAST favorite store out there.  I am not a fan and seldom go unless I have lots of coupons that match up with some great sales.  Well nothing was overly exciting but I saved 57% today so it was a decent visit.  I did two transactions.  The reason I did two was because of a rebate on Banquet Family Size dinners from the April All You Magazine.  In addition to the rebate I also had a $1.50 coupon also from the April All you.  I combined that purchase with 4 Scotch Brite sponges (man I have a lot of those things now) but between the coupon and the $0.16 overage on the $1/1 Scotch Brite coupon (if you did not get that when it was available shame on you because it was in a PDF and has unlimited prints) I ended up paying $0.53 for the whole transaction including tax!  Came home and submitted the rebate and will get back $3.  Way cool!  I love it when a plan comes together...ok sorry about that, I have A-Team on the brain now...I REALLY wanna see that movie!!  Sorry back on track.....

One of the reasons that I hate Walmart is because they are very NON coupon friendly.  Today I was very, very, very impressed with how sweet our cashier was.  Now don't get me wrong the register beeped like a million times, but she took it in stride very well and just pushed them through.  Ahhh a breath of fresh air!!  Though honestly one experience is not going to change my mind, still not my fav store!!

So how did you do today?

Swagbucks 101

Search & Win

OK so if you have not signed you for Swagbucks you really should.  Basically the principal is simple...use the Swagbucks tool bar or Swagbucks.com to perform your internet searches.  Each time you search you have a chance at winning "Swagbucks" once you accrue enough of them you redeem them for gifcards or other items.  You can also earn one Swagbuck a day with the daily poll and they have retailers that give you Swagbucks for qualifying purchase (much like the MyPoints program but that will be another post).

So let me explain that this is NOT too good to be true or that there is a "catch".  As a former marketing manager I am more than aware of the expense behind search engine marketing.  Companies pay search engines based on "click thrus" for delivering their website at the top of a list when a certain keyword is searched.  An example is "Memphis grocery stores" and the top links provided are Kroger, Schnucks and Piggly Wiggly...typically it will say somewhere "sponsored links" or something to that effect.   That shows that when you click on that link the company pays money to the search engine.  Search engines like Swagbucks are offering incentives to get more people to search to increase the traffic to the sponsored links.

So by offering Swagbucks that can be turned into giftcards they are passing some of their profits on to you all while encouraging you to make them more money.  See how it works?  So sign up and reap the rewards!  At the top of my page is a link to Swagbucks (also one in this post) and I would appreciate if you used that to sign up..so Swagbucks can share more profits with me!  :)

Walgreen's Shopping Rant

Ok so all the drugstores have pros and cons if you are a couponer.  I really wish I had a CVS close because I think I would do more shopping there than anywhere else, however in Memphis there is a Wag's on EVERY corner.  Now don't get me wrong I love Wag's because there are no limits, but what a pain they can be in so many other ways.  Yesterday, after a very LOOOONNNG day at work I headed to the Wag's that is on my way home.  I have a little cashier there that I adore, he is so great to me and has become more than savvy with the whole coupon to item ratio and all the other nit picky Wag's issues and when my brain is not firing on all cylinders he helps me.  In fact he is such a sweetie that if he has not seen me that week he sometimes stashes products for me because he knows I will be there soon...love him!!  He was not there yesterday, instead I got a cashier that has worked at Wag's for a whole 2 weeks.  Umm yeah, so I was exhausted and had no choice but to shop because my RR's were expiring (can't let that happen!).  There I was, coupons and RR's in hand and for the life of me I just could not make my brain work right.  I wanted to get the Schick Razors and Cartridges..I had 2 coupons.  I also had 2 Schick RR's that were about to expire so I needed to roll them but did not feel like trying to see if they would jack up my latest Schick transaction (which I am sure the way my day was going they would so why even go there?).  I don't need any more shaving cream, but they had the EOS ones on sale $2.99 get back $3 in RR's with no coupon so I figured that would work for me.  What was I thinking?  I had 4 different transactions and had the order worked out to where I could roll some of the RR's I was getting and use others that I already had...looks right...I check my basket, my Q's, my RR's and do it a second time for good measure.  I get to the register and POOF!  My brain turns off and I act like I have never done this before.  I was clueless!!!  What the heck?!?!  So I had a $3 RR and I was trying to use it on a $2.99 item, oops can't do that.  Was that making sense to me, nope..I could not figure out what the problem was and my newbie cashier was so lost I don't think she knew how to scan anymore by the time I was through.  Finally somehow my brain turned back on and I scurried through the store to grab filler items and everything went as planned.   Somehow after all my retardness 3 of my 4 transactions worked as planned and I don't know what I did but one of the transactions had an out of pocket that was a lil more than I wanted.  I was so tired and I so did not care that I just went home...I rolled my RR's scored some money maker razors and cheap cartridges and some free shaving cream so it is not like it was a total loss, however for some reason I felt like I was a newbie all over again.  Does this happen to anyone else?  Please someone just say it does so I will not feel like a complete and total retard.

BOGO Pedigree Dog Food coupon

I was on coupons.com trying to see if there were any coupon match ups for the new Kroger ad and I came across this instead.  There is a BOGO coupon for Pedigree.  I hope this will match with a good sale and I can give some to the Humane Society.  I think being a super couponer should be about giving back as much as it is saving money.

Giving credit where credit is due!

A few days ago I had posted about my success recieving coupons after sending emails to companies and I mentioned that I had seen a list somewhere out in blogger land and could not for the life of me remember where I had seen it.  Today thanks to another post by this same blogger I figured out where I had seen the list and I absolutely want to give her credit.  This took a good bit of time for her to put together and paid off for me and her other readers as well.  So if you want to see her list head over to Saving A Bundle and check it out.  While you are there you should subscribe to her site.  She has a great blog that I really like to read...honestly I can't beleive I did not know it was her and I feel terrible for not remembering and linking back.  She is a fellow mid-southerner so she has posts that are most relevant to our area.  Check her out!
